Description

Reflective educator is someone who is able to look at their overall practice, including the environment provided to children, the activities that help children to learn and develop. They can look at what is going well, what might need to change in order for their practice to improve. Effective reflective practice is consistent and always works towards reflecting every day to ensure we are providing children with the best possible learning environments and outcomes possible. In this class Emily explores how we can embed reflective practice into our settings, as well as the benefits that come with reflective practice.

1. What Is Reflective Practice?

In this first lesson Emily explains what reflective practice actually is and why it's such an important skill to master in the world of early years. Children in the early years develop so fast and with this their needs and interests dramatically alter week by week. Incorporating reflective practice into what you do is an important step in ensuring your meetings the development needs of your children!

2. How Can You Embed Reflective Practice Into Your Setting?

In this lesson Emily explains some simple steps you can follow to embed reflective practice into your setting. Through just a few simple strategies leadership teams can easily reap the rewards that come from spending just a small amount of time engaging with reflective practice.

Having worked in early years since the age of 16 early childhood learning means everything to me, which is why I'm so passionate about ensuring a platform dedicated to our communities learning exists. I've experienced first hand the lack of genuine and affordable learning opportunities that exist within early years and trying to provide my teams with high quality and flexible training on a non-existent budget is an impossible task. Its our mission to change this.

We're not the biggest chain in the world with just under 60 members of staff, but The Early Years Network has been amazing for getting everyone engaged and excited to learn. If I had of asked our teams to go away over the weekend and do some research on a early years topic they'd have looked at me crazy, but since providing them with The Early Years Network I don't even need to ask. The majority of our team have become so engaged with their own learning and the provision our setting is providing I wish we'd have found this platform sooner!
