Stories are an Early Years Teacher’s special power, as through stories we’re able to unlock magical areas of children's brains through their imaginations and fantasy where incredible learning takes place. As a fantastic actress herself Olivia is well placed to guide you through this class about all things storytelling in the early years! Throughout the different lessons in this class you'll explore how you can most effectively incorporate stories into your curriculum and routines, some tips and tricks how best to deliver stories and ways in which you can inspire children's learning through stories. 1. Let's Go Back To Basics

How does your storytime benefit your children? Are you just using stories as a filler during the day to allow the rest of your team to do some clearing up? If so this lesson is a must for you and your teams, as in lesson one Olivia explores how we can best utilise stories and the educational, social and cognitive benefits effective storytelling can bring your children.

In this lesson Olivia provides you with a brief synopsis of the life and career of Vivian Gussin Paley, as well as some of the key lessons learnt from her work.

What I enjoy the most about the early years, is allowing children to thrive in a caring, compassionate and engaging environment. Previously, I have trained and come from a performing arts and entertainment background, which of course comes together nicely when working with these impressionable and curious children. I pride myself in making learning fun and enabling, whilst encouraging children to celebrate their own unique individualities.

I've recently become a mummy for the first time and just recently gone back to work as a room leader. I was really nervous about feeling left behind and out of the loop, but finding The Early Years Network has given me so many ideas to share with my team and confidence.
